Advanced / Competitive Wrestling Team
Advanced training for competitively ready wrestlers
The MatTime Advanced / Competitive Team is our highest-level youth wrestling group. It is designed for committed athletes ready for a faster, more demanding room with advanced technique, strong practice partners and preparation for competitive tournaments.
Practices emphasize pace, positional awareness, chain wrestling, match strategy and the ability to execute technique against experienced resistance. Wrestlers are expected to arrive ready to learn, work and contribute positively to the training room.
Placement is based on wrestling experience, work ethic, maturity and competitive readiness—not age alone. A younger wrestler may qualify for this group, while an older wrestler may benefit more from the Development Team.

The Advanced / Competitive Team is not determined solely by age or time in the sport. Wrestlers must demonstrate the focus, technical foundation and training habits required to work safely and productively at an advanced pace. Coach approval may be required.
Train Beyond the School Season
Middle-school and junior-high wrestlers may train with MatTime while participating with their school teams. MatTime provides additional technical development, high-quality partners and access to competitive tournaments that extend beyond the school schedule.
Coached for the Next Level
Under Coach Adrian Garcia and the MatTime coaching staff, athletes are challenged to sharpen their wrestling while developing the discipline, resilience and accountability expected from serious competitors.
Our Philosophy
At MatTime we embrace the notion of old school values where things in life are earned, not given. We seek to introduce kids to the concept of doing something difficult, and the benefits that come from this. Grit, perseverance and resilience are not something that can be taught in the classroom. Our Great Nation and society in general are moving farther and farther away from these concepts — ideals that built this country.
MatTime aspires to be a sanctuary where the young and the old grow stronger as a result of reaching beyond ourselves, immersing ourselves (and kids) in a challenging environment where physical fitness and discomfort are part of the equation. This is very unlike our society where — as a whole — people believe that comfort and security take precedence over hard work and resilience. Wrestling is a vehicle that can teach our youth these values that will not only make them better people, but will help increase the strength of our community and Nation as a whole.
